Speakers presenting at SiteSummit

Last week, construction leaders from across Canada gathered at the Polygon Gallery in North Vancouver for the very first SiteSummit—a sold-out, two-day event that pushed the boundaries of what a construction conference can be. Hosted by SiteNews and presented by EllisDon, SiteSummit brought together over 320 registered attendees, 37 speakers, and 10 panels and presentations—all offering fresh perspectives, real conversations, and a whole lot of momentum.

SiteSummit bar crawl

SiteSummit kicked off with a pre-event hike to Quarry Rock, where attendees connected over scenic views and supported a great cause: raising funds for Working Gear Clothing Society. The day continued with a brewery crawl along the North Shore Ale Trail that included a private tasting at the award-winning Copperpenny Distillery. It was the kind of laid-back networking you rarely find at industry events.

Day one of SiteSummit centred around the theme "Own the Moment," with panels exploring talent, tech, safety, and leadership in the face of Canada’s construction challenges. Industry leaders emphasized building a strong culture, leveraging AI with intention, and prioritizing personal connections to drive safety. Keynote speaker Eric Termuende urged companies to clearly define their identity to attract the right people, while owners called for more private-sector advocacy and action, not bureaucracy.

On day two, high-level leaders shared candid insights on scaling, risk, and leadership in exclusive C-Suite roundtables. Sales success, they said, comes down to empathy and trust. Technology experts encouraged off-site construction and grassroots innovation, while the final panel tackled Canada’s housing crisis, urging governments to double down on what works and simplify the path to building more homes.
