SitePartners is pleased to announce that two of our partners, Shxw’owhamel Ventures and LandSea Camp Services, are currently working together on the construction of a new 350-room Workforce Accommodation Complex on Shxw’owhamel First Nation shared traditional territory. This project will be constructed with new infrastructure that has been designed to support a future housing or other legacy development project for the Shxw’owhamel First Nation community.

To mark the start of major construction work, SitePartners was invited to plan and execute a Cultural Ceremony for the Shxw’owhamel Ventures and LandSea Camp Services leadership team and workforce. The Cultural Ceremony offered a traditional Site Blessing and Smudge, along with a prayer from one of Shxwo’owhamel First Nation elders, to provide protection for all workers and offer them safety throughout the construction period.

The SitePartners team was heavily involved in all aspects of the event, from planning and preparation to execution and post-production. Kayla Bordigon, Director of Communications and Engagement, organized and executed the Cultural Ceremony, which included following Indigenous protocol and ensuring all inclusion efforts were met.

“We are proud to have been involved in such a meaningful ceremony with our Indigenous Partner, Shxw’owhamel Ventures, and show how industry can come together to work effectively with Indigenous Communities to achieve common goals that result in success,” concludes Kayla Bordignon. “We look forward to continuing work with this progressive Indigenous Business on exciting construction projects that support the economic prosperity and future for the Shxw’owhamel First Nation community.”

Disclaimer: Please note that during this event, Shxw’owhamel Ventures and LandSea Camps created a “PPE free” safe space and stopped all construction works on the project.
